Awesome Factor: OK so... The reason I found out about Hands was actually cause I had originally gone down to LA to film Pepper Rabbit (an amazing band also from LA that I was blown away by when I saw them open for Avi Buffalo at The Independent here in SF). It was all planned. I was going to LA to film Pepper Rabbit. And then they got an amazing chance to record an album at Bear Creek Studio, so they had to cancel on our shoot in order to write an album to record! I asked them if they knew of a stellar and dedicated band in LA that would be into getting featured (I had to cause I already had the plane ticket to LA booked) and Xander (Pepper Rabbit) said "Yeah actually, check out Hands." So I did, and I really liked their stuff on Myspace, so I called Geoff and he was a true charmer. I thought, "Fuck it. Lets just do this." And from the second I started filming these guys I liked them. It wasn't till the second day that I even heard what they sounded like live!! HA. Thats when a real calm came over me. I am here for a reason. I am here to cover Hands and I am SO behind this band. That weekend they were the perfect sound and backdrop to LA for me. Happy tropical pop, full of sun in their sound, but at times with a grit that you couldn't shake. A subtle haunting quality that's just barely noticeable, like when the sun hits the pool water and out of the blueness is a thin layer of oil floating on the top. They are the perfect glimpse into LA's vibe. A tropical wonderland, with a blanket of hopeless grime.
